Community Peace Centre Benefits
Social and Economic Benefits
Strategies that encourage partnerships
among individuals, groups, and agencies also serve to create social development
opportunities that are cost-effective investments with long-term economic and
social benefits. A strong not-for-profit sector that can adequately address
the social needs of the community is vital to support and enhance the long-term
economic growth and viability of our community, as well as being a significant
contributor to the economic vitality and health of our community. A multi-agency
service delivery centre will become the nucleus of initiatives that will see
the fostering of our communities’ vitality. Other communities have recognized
that there are direct social and economic benefits in working towards a strong
non-profit sector.
A few of these benefits are:
- more harmonious living in multicultural communities
- the realization of true “equal opportunity” with regard to employment and access to services
- healthy economic flow as more people participate as employees and consumers benefiting business, industry, communities, and individuals
- a greater recruitment pool for employers
- attitudinal changes amongst employers that can result in increased opportunities for growth
- equality of opportunity and quality of life
- an increase in community patronage
- an increased sense of community pride from constructively working through issues
- a greater ability to work together
- a shared responsibility for a better future
- enhancing crime prevention exports through social development initiatives
Benefits to the Non-Profit Sector
